Usage-based policies generally work like this- you get electronically tracked as you drive in your car in exchange for possibly getting discounts and a lower car insurance rate. During this time it’s in your best interests to go easy and drive as well as you can.
Usage-based policies work well for those who use up less than 10k miles annually. Notable programs include the Pay Per Mile by Eastern or the one that’s similarly offered by Metro Mile. If you’re in Oregon or in any of the covered 7 states, do consider this carefully.
